Redgate Primary Academy is a small special primary academy for children with moderate, severe and complex learning difficulties. The age range of pupils is from 3-11 years of age and there are currently 41 pupils on roll.

Most pupils have a degree of Moderate or Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD) some pupils also have Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

Redgate pupils are currently grouped in 5 classes within two Key Stages - Foundation/Key Stage 1 (12 children) Key Stage 2 (29 children).

The academy has an extensive catchment area providing education for pupils in the Mansfield, Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Newark and Sherwood districts of Nottinghamshire. The vast majority of students travel to school on transport organised by the Local Authority. Redgate Primary Academy is located within the Ladybrook Ward of Mansfield District Council.

Facilities

Redgate Primary Academy has a good range of facilities including;

  • a sensory room, a soft play room, and a playroom
  • library
  • kitchen
  • hall with shower
  • two hard surface outdoor playgrounds
  • an outdoor adventure playground area
  • a large school field with perimeter path
  • a sensory garden
  • an outside fitted trampoline
  • a newly canopied courtyard area - our "big top" - giving our pupils an outside play area in all weathers,
  • and importantly, a minibus and a people carrier, resulting in Redgate pupils increasingly accessing the community. There has been a significant increase in staff able to drive these vehicles.
